Review of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) by Palmer R — 29 Jul 2011
I've always liked Austin Powers because he's a farce of James Bond. I've got nothing against Bond, but he's one of those movie characters that wouldn't exist in real life. Powers, in complete contrast, isn't suave at all, and despite having qualities that in real life would turn him into a bitter introvert, is somehow even better with women than even Bond.
That is literally the whole plot. The reason why Austin Powers is so good with women is a mysterious liquid (created in his crotch apparently) called "mojo," which is essentially hot girl catnip or something. His nemesis, Dr. Evil, steals it, and the entire movie involves Austin Powers getting it back and stopping Dr. Evil from an insanely evil plot recycled almost directly from Star Wars. This movie is full of flaws, and it's incredibly stupid. The good thing is that all of that is entirely intentional.
