Review of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) by Josh M — 28 Jan 2014
Perhaps it is the repeat viewings from my college years but the impact of this film has lessened with time. Or perhaps the excessive toilet humour just isn't funny anymore. This is less refined that the first Austin Powers film in terms of both the writing and the content.
Once again Dr. Evil is the funniest character while Fat Bastard is an unworthy addition to the saga. Despite the endless soundbites he afforded teenagers ('get in ma belleh', 'ah ate a bebeh' and so-on) the humour now feels crude and lowest common demoninator.
