Review of Austin Found (2017) by Anthony B — 04 Feb 2018
A limp, lifeless indie that barely manages a third star which is only due to its bizarre, bold, and balanced casting decisions. Everyone involved is a naturally funny person but Austin Found is not going for laughs, especially after the first act, and this makes for a very awkward, sometimes frustrating film.
Fortunately the actors, Linda Cardellini and Craig Robinson in particular, make it hard to stop watching. This film is not awful, just the marketing is. So long as you don't go into Austin Found with high expectations for a comedy or in general, you will be able to appreciate the strong dramatic performances and overall message which is as clear as the story is muddled.
