Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Kirsten J — 28 Feb 2008
Oh man, this movie is GREAT. I always noticed it on tv but never gave it a chance because I was under the completely mislead assumption that this movie was a depressive narrative about a drag queen.
Couldn't have been farther from the truth. Auntie Mame tells the story of a rich Manhattan socialite who inherits her nephew to raise.
The way each scene closes upon Mame's face creeps me out and excites me all at once. I could have done without the choice of actor for the grown up Patrick character but other than that, AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.
Rosalind Russel is my new idol.
