Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Jeff B — 05 Aug 2008
Very amusing film with a perfect performance by Rosalind Russell. Though it's overlong, Russell really carries the film and never makes it boring. The colors and sets are great, it's a fun movie to look at.
I did prefer the scenes early on when Patrick was a boy (Jan Handzlik did a great job), I felt it lost some of its steam when Patrick left the scene and Mame was alone. But regardless, it's a very good movie and I would've given Russell the Oscar for this.
