Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Marla K — 21 Jul 2010
Thought this might be a fun one to share with my 12-year-old daughter. Sadly, the pacing was so slow...considering the movie is about a woman who leads such a madcap life. Also offputting were the theatrical lighting effects at ends of scenes.
When you're trying to suspend disbelief, the spotlight closeups on Rosalind Russell kept reminding you of the unreality. Also found Rosalind Russell stiff as the main character. Best parts are the scenery changes in Mame's apartment.
Can't say I recommend.
