Review of August Rush (2007) by Tiffany F — 28 Dec 2011
Kirsten Sheridan does a great job with this film making an ode to music. If there is a movie that can depict the magic and meaning of music then August Rush is that movie. In this film you dont merely listen to the music, you see the music in this fairy tale about a orphan boy who is a musical prodigy in search of his parents.
This boy is played by Freddie Highmore, who is probably one of the best child actors at the present (Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Robin Williams plays the character who discovers the kids talent on the street and tries to exploit him.
He changes the kids name from Evan to August Rush. August is in search of his biological parents and hopes that his music will bring his parents too him. The plot is not realistic, but the movie works as a kind of fairy tale and tribute to music which makes the movie very entertaining to watch and enjoyable to listen.
