Review of August Rush (2007) by Pendleton B — 12 Apr 2012
This film is so sugar-sweet and implausible it is nauseating. it makes Disney's "Mary Poppins" look like a film noir.
What irritates me most, is that this sappy children's movie takes itself seriously. Casting poor Jonathan Rhys Meyers in this piece of goo is as comically pompous as casting Sir Lawrence Olivia in an episode of Barney the Dinosaur.
I am no child prodigy, but I implore the makers of this film to "follow the critics' negative reviews"--not "the music"--and heed their wise words, that we may be spared future assaults on the contents of our stomaches.
