Just because a movie is unapologetically whimsical and sentimental doesn't make it bad. August Rush is absolutely shameless in its desire to lift viewer's spirits, and it doesn't hurt to let your cynical guard down and just enjoy it for what it is; a feel-good movie that celebrates music and love.
I was totally won over by it.
