All August Rush is is a big, cliched and over-emotional mess that tries to be deep and thought provoking, but ends up only getting us to show one emotion with laughter. It goes for the touching story of a child bound by the laws of an orphanage and wanting to do something more.

That would be fine, but then we get all these stupid side stories about his parents and them wanting to find their long lost son. Then there's Robin Williams in a role that in not at all needed. It's all a jumbled mess when it really does not have to be.

I hate when movies try to put so much into it's too little running time. It makes everything feel all smushed. Then there's Freddie Highmore who is a problem all himself. How does this kid get work? He's made a couple of movies and now he's on the show Bates Motel, this guy is terrible.

He is the most emotionless and annoying actor of all time, not including Cameron Bright who takes the cake. He never brightens a scene and he has the same expression all the time. It's really just one bad thing after another, but that's what this movie is.
