Review of August: Osage County (2013) by Jenn S — 25 Apr 2014
In my opinion, August: Osage County succeeds where Blue Jasmine didn't. Despite the issues present in the highly dysfunctional family on-screen, Julia Roberts character, though imperfect, has her head mostly on her shoulders throughout the film.
Streep's acting, as always, is top-notch as the pill-popping Violet, and she treats us to one of the most uncomfortable dinner table conversations ever to be put on screen. The dynamic between these two talented actresses, as well as the issues within the lives on the other characters, makes this film well worth watching.
