Review of Audition (2000) by Yuri W — 06 Jul 2010
Audition, what to say, where to start. . . ?
Asami. . . it didn't have to end this way . . .
Without a doubt Miike's Masterpiece. A relatively intense social drama with a twist . . .
It takes a scrutinizing look at modern Japanese society and visualizes what just might lie underneath the surface.
Beneath the blood and gore there's a tragic tale of the hero; Aoyama as he falls for his dark princess and tumbles down the rabbit hole, unable to break the spell. The succubus has got him.
An emotional tragedy of Shakespearean proportions. Go see it.
