Review of Audition (2000) by Grayson D — 02 Jul 2011
Excellent and chilling horror from the controversial Japanese auteur Takeshi Miike, beginning with the mundane and tragic life of recent a widower and his son, that changes drastically with the arrival of a sinister and manipulative potential girlfriend who has designs on the family herself.
Culminating in a truly horrific scene of gory torture that is a perfect juxtaposition to the beautifully paced build up in the early scenes, this is well acted, well crafted modern Horror cinema from one of it's most unusual and unpredictable masters.
