Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Will G — 05 Oct 2007
A brilliant, brilliant film that succeeds with its quietness and pretense that it is just a film about boys in a boarding school during world war II. The portrait of children -- and of image-bearers -- as they work through adult issues is astounding.
Since the script is based on the director's actual childhood, it is no suprise that the genuiness is striking. Run out and rent or borrow this one, and enjoy a beautiful and thought-provoking evening with a friend or loved one.
