Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Alana K — 06 Apr 2008
I loved this film, although it broke my heart. Perhaps it was the mood I was in, perhaps it was the rainy day, but it completely drew me in. It's a slow paced character driven film; one event leading into another, day after day with the disjointed memory of childhood.
The lingering camera allowing you to read subtle changes in expression, enjoy all the small textural details. Not for the impatient.
