Review of Au Revoir les Enfants (1987) by Isabelle W — 16 Jul 2009
My interest in World War II (or any war for that matter) is always rebooted with fresh perspectives, with the examination of the lesser-known stories overshadowed by the victories, defeats and bigwig political peacocks.
This film takes place in occupied France, at a boy's Catholic boarding school. Boyhood preoccupations seem to effectively insulate the students from the world crumbling around them, until the arrival of three new students.
