Should be compulsory viewing for anybody who wants to make movies. Can you imagine the Hollywood pitch? "It's the life of the donkey, from birth to death, from the point of view of the donkey." um, sure, sounds great...
And yet it is one of the great humanist films, transcendent and heartbreaking, deeply, deeply moving.
