Review of Attack the Block (2011) by Deejay S — 23 Jun 2012
A fairly well made twist on the alien invasion story where a bunch of interstellar nasties invade a block of south London flats. Sort of like an updated Critters set in a council estate populated by drug dealers and thugs.
Has a few scares and a few laughs but few surprises but feels a little contrived and laboured in places. Some solid performances and nice effects but hugely intrusive sound track that really got on my nerves and completely ruined any sense of tension at key moments.
Still a nice try and a bit different from the usual.
