So whenever there is a zombie attack, an alien attack, or whatever; white people will go to the trailer park and black people head straight to the projects. This movie takes a new spin on horror movies to where instead of the monster killing the one black buy at the end, the monster is dropped in the middle of the hood. Also, unike the white people where they just run away screaming guessing what this thing is, black people just say "That's an alien, bruv. Let's get our homies and kill 'em all!" Oh yes this is, by far, one of the better alien movies that I have seen in a long time and it brings a fresh new look to how we see sci-fi films. Not to mention that Edgar Wright had a hand in this in as the executive producer and we all know that anything he has worked in automatically turns into solid gold.

So the premise opens up in south London with a group of teenagers, from the ghetto, mugging a 30 something year-old woman when something crashing right next to them. This creature attacks them and instead running away, like most teens would do in horror movies, they straight up kill it. Right after that there are more meteors crashing into the hood with more creatures coming right at these kids for one particular reason. Apart from these aliens, there are also crazy drug dealers and the police that are after these kids as well.

It's amazing how they bring all of these things together and make it work in one movie. This movie takes it to a whole other level when it appealed to my sensibility as it did so in spades. Not only that but the thing that makes this really work is the cast because, what I heard about from the director, a lot of these kids never really acted before especially the main protaginist Moses (John Boyega). He was phenomenal along with his cast and the thing that works with this cast is you see them as a comradery, just like The Goonies or Sandlot, where they work together in stopping this alien invasion. Nick Frost is in this as well and I love how he played the majority of the movie as a side character and not hogging all of the spotlight for himself. The soundtrack to this was awesome as well, that it made me want to buy the CD to this movie and I haven't done that since Godzilla came out. One more thing, that makes this movie so great, is the look and the design of these alien creatures. They didn't look like your typical alien like the ones from Cloverfield or District 9. This is an entirely original design that made these creatures look even more baddass. Overall, this film is like a Steven Spielberg movie but with balls....big furry blacks balls to be exact. Which is why I have to give this a perfect five star rating.
