Review of Attack the Block (2011) by Robin W — 12 Oct 2013
An alien invasion scenario with some unique aspects to it, those being the specific setting and that the main characters are troubled youths that many viewers will see as somewhat despicable. When a South-London Ghetto is invaded by aliens a group of local youths try to fight them of.
The story hits the bat almost immediately and moves along in an extremely brisk pace, managing to capture the viewers attention. Attack the Block is both hilarious and action-packed, but not completely unflawed.
Although the films attempts on social-satire is quite obvious and easy to grasp they are somewhat naive. Furthermore, very little time is spent on the main-character coming to any realisation about the error of his ways.
