Review of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! (1978) by Matthew O — 20 Jul 2014
A lot of people compare Attack of the Killer Tomatoes to the likes of movies such as Sharknado, but in reality the two are almost nothing alike. Honestly Tomatoes is everything that I wished Sharknado would have been.
Here is a movie that embraces it's wackiness and is filled with lots of heart, and as an added bonus is actually pretty funny. Even when it's not causing laughs the joyful silliness of the whole thing keeps the film going just as enjoyable as at other times.
Sometimes there's classic scenes that weren't even supposed to be gags! Of course this is a picture you have to go into with the right mentality, walking in you gotta be ready to sit down and watch some craziness unfold with you at the center of it all.
Think the feeling of going to see a b-movie double feature at the old fashioned drive in theater. It's strange, goofy, and campy, all in all Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is the Citizen Kane of horror comedy musicals involving homicidal produce.
