Review of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958) by Max M — 24 Aug 2008
Probably more people know the poster than have seen the movie - and that is probably a good thing.
Despite what the loyal cult following would have you believe, this film is truly AWFUL! - and not in a funny, campy way either (as the die-hard trash cinema cultists would have you believe). The script explains nothing, the action and the scares are non-existent, and I have seen more impressive special-effects work done in episodes of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
And yes, I know it's just a B Movie - believe me I have seen more of that type of film than most everyone out there. That still doesn't excuse this film from being as terrible as it is. I have seen plenty of B pictures that had smaller budgets and less scheduled shooting days and those pictures, no matter how cheap they looked, still had a lot more to offer than this lame movie.
The film's one saving grace - it's running time is only an hour!
