Review of Atonement (2007) by Stephen H — 21 Mar 2012
The film is beautiful, and it does a rather fine job of capturing the longing the two leads have for each other, both leading up to their one shared moment, and the years that follow. The young girl who keeps them apart is obviously unlikeable, and all three actresses who portrayed her at various points in her life are to be commended.
And, technically, there's a happy ending, though you won't feel very satisfied. Which is the point.
