Review of Atonement (2007) by Millo T — 26 Nov 2012
Good movie, but not "the best romance since Titanic"... not even close. I don't know what critic said that, but they're dumb.
Could have seemed choppy, but I think the score (though somewhat monotonous) helped with the continuity.
Decent acting. Young Briony was really good. Middle was aight. Old Briony dropped the ball. Maybe I just hate old ladies... but I felt she pretty much just weakened the ending.
Not as heavy on the romance as I expected from the way it was marketed. I could of used a bit more of a set up for the relationship and just their backstory in general to actually connect with it beyond "omg james mcavoy and keira knightley!" (Not to say both didn't do a good job with what they were given.).
Some really beautiful shots. LOVED Keira's green dress.
Yeah, it was good not fantastic... worth watching.
