Review of Atonement (2007) by Cancelled U — 11 Dec 2010
Keira Knightley really shines here! I love her in Pride and Prejudice, with the same director again she proves herself as a credible actress! Atonement is in no way a light movie, the movie is filled with such passion, energy and emotion - its like the darker version of any romance movie. Being different, that's why I liked it.
James McAvoy is alright, still need to ace the acting skill I think. Saoirse Ronan on other hand, is just scarily talented. This young actress is an immediate threat to Fanning's sister, Robb, Breslin and other young actresses of her generation. Direction was incredible, kinda draggy in the middle but from every aspect this movie excels in everything.
Epic love story that sure beat The Notebook 's ass, for tragic romance category!
8/10.
