Atonement came on my radar back when it was picking up all the Oscar & BAFTA nominations, but I never read a review that actually made me want to see it. Having finally seen it on the TV, I now realise WHY it picked up that BAFTA for Best Film.
However, I also now understand why reviewers at the time seemed so reluctant to say much about the plot, because if you know how it all ends, then a lot of the dramatic power of the film is lost. Well worth seeing.
