Review of Atonement (2007) by Tom B — 10 Apr 2011
Really really dull. I sat through two hours of film where absolutely nothing of interest happened. The first 45 minutes or so were alright, but as soon as Robbie goes to prison, the plot becomes a muddled mess that makes very little sense.
The movie is clearly just Academy-bait and it is the kind of tedious British period drama that the Academy adores. Much is made of how sad the ending is, but it really isn't as tearjerking as it is made out to be.
I was disappointed, but I'd still do Keira Knightley.
