Review of Atonement (2007) by Jose Luis M — 15 Jan 2015
So stylish & well acted especially 'Cecilia' the actors voice so much reminded me of Celia Johnson in 'A Brief Encounter' clipped to perfections to remind us of a bygone time. As the tension built in the first half I loved the way that background noises were exaggerated which was the whole reason for 'Brionny' wanting atonement.
A film that absorbed me to the end & left me melancholic but in a way that me made feel 'it is better to have loved & lost. Having just seen it again it is still holding up, shamefully overlooked at the 'Oscars' but then again the 'C' word was a bit too much for some so bravo for keeping it in.
