Review of Atonement (2007) by Jose C — 31 Mar 2011
One of the more depressing movies I have seen. Many movies, when they end on a sad note, it is because of the hero dying in a sacrificing way in which he gives up his own life for the sake of another. Those scenes are indeed sad but this one... How the movie ended was not that kind of sad. It went out there and bluntly showed just how depressing and somber this story was. Very strong performance by all the main actors and actresses for sure. And a REALLY unique score.
The last quarter dragged a little but I'd have to say that it was essential in setting the film up for getting to the point of "atonement" in the movie.
