Review of Atomic Blonde (2017) by Randolph B — 03 Feb 2018
Skip this movie. This movie was so awkwardly non-007 like that it was hard to mesh them in the same category. 007 works for the queen, Q. Lorraine Broughton here is a princess in the almost modern age, what appears to be 1939-1945 Berlin, Germany in eastern Europe. So how does a princess behave when she is handed a pistol, working for a secret organization? Exactly as you'd expect anyone to.
Theron as an actress. This movie reminds me of her role in Monster, or Ultraviolet. She's clearly the lead here, with several supporting actors and actresses. They eventually put the weapons down and do other exciting stunts. Don't let me ruin it for you there is some cool car chase scenes and hand-to-hand combat. It's an action film, not a drama. Despite being in "Germany" as some people still refer to this area, only one or two actors even can manage one sentence of the language.
You'd think if they were advertising it as female Bond, she would work for K, and where was M? Nonetheless, by the final scene you begin to wonder if Japan fell by an atomic bomb or an atomic blonde.
