Review of Atomic Blonde (2017) by Juan G — 02 Aug 2017
So about half a dozen Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone showed up for this violent spy on spy thriller and were not disappointed. I think I went into this thinking I might no like it because of the story.
Thankfully the story is simple, it takes place right before and during the fall of The Wall and the end of East Berlin/Germany . Charllize Theron is spectacular but whoever her stunt double was deserves most of the credit.
All of the action is live and there are some truly spectacular fights and stunts. The story line stays consistent, if a bit simple, so the ending, which is a sort of surprise, makes sense. Not for anyone who doesn't like more or less non-stop violence, or a bit of nudity, or sex, but I suspect folks like that know the issue before going in.
All in all a high recommendation especially for the driving 80s punk rock sound track.
