Review of Atomic Blonde (2017) by Robert P — 09 Aug 2017
This is a GREAT movie! If you want to see a great spy/action movie, and/or a James Bond movie as a girl. This is it!
This movie keeps you guessing on who the traitor is, a la The Usual Suspects (which I'm not giving the spoilers from saying that). The tension & suspense is great, it keeps you on your feet. The action is f**king incredible, it's the best I have seen in while. The music is perfect all of it is 80s music, most of it is One-Hit Wonder songs. What's great it's not made up of a few 80s; and the rest is using today's pop music, trying to sound like the 80s, or remaking a song from 80s. The acting was amazing! Everybody who had to do an accent, did a spectacular job! Charlize Theron was a badass! But her character had flaws too, so makes her likeable; so she isn't a Mary Sue. James McAvoy, without giving too much, he was mysterious, but a dick. The only thing that confused me was John Goodman's character, not saying he did bad, but this is a minor gripe. The only other minor gripe, was the interview and going back to the mission; it took away some of the suspense on, if Charlize's character is going to make it, but still has suspense and tension in it.
What's a bummer for me, the theater sound went in and out during the climax. But the movie is SO good, that I'll sit through it again, so I know what happened during the climax.
So my rating for this movie is (by numbers): 8 and a half out of 10. For me 5 is average.
