Review of Atomic Blonde (2017) by Anthony S — 29 Jul 2017
Solid and entertaining spy action, drama, and thriller. Nicely set against the historical backdrop of the Cold War Europe in the late 1980's. Intriguing twists, complicated plot story turns, with well-choregraphed fight and gun battle scenes shrewdly set to nostalgic musical hits from the 1980's.
Movie really gets going in the 2nd half of the film. Charlize Theron gives a very good lead actress performance. James McAvoy is brilliant as always as the mysterious assistant. John Goodman is solid in his supporting role as a CIA agent.
Sofia Boutella has a relatively small, yet memorable, supporting role performance (when you see the movie, you'll know what I mean...lol). Overall, this movie is worth checking out in the theater.
