Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Bob P — 12 Oct 2012
Ayn Rand's most important ideas are accurately shown in a very dramatic way in which I believe she would approve. Atlas Shrugged is a book with over 1,200 pages, so one could imagine how difficult it would be to fit it all into even three films.
Some of the conversations regarding the complex relationships between the pioneers and their manipulative spouses and greedy governments are shrunk to make the movie accessible to those new to Ayn Rand, but fans may find the brushing over disappointing.
Also, the concentration of the film into such a short time causes characters to be very polarized, always representative of their role, and less human. Considering the tremendous challenge the director had to undertake to create this film, I'd say it was done really well.
