Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Luke G — 12 Oct 2012
While it can certainly be said that Atlas Shrugged: Part II is an improvement in comparison to its lackluster predecessor, in the end that just doesn't count for much. Whether you agree with the source material or not, it is almost impossible to sidestep the very real problem that has reared its ugly head: a serviceable adaptation would be difficult for even the most veteran of Hollywood screenwriters. When it comes to the inexperienced director and woefully unqualified screenwriters, for all their effort, it must be acknowledged they can't help but fall short.
The acting has improved and the writing (while still lacking in almost every way) isn't quite as laughable. But that just doesn't change the fact that unless you have a familiarity with the source material, you just won't be able to summon the urge to care about the plot, the characters, or the message.
There are many things that can be said for an admirable attempt made...but it will never be able to disguise the fact that the end result is a failure nonetheless.
