Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Richard M — 12 Oct 2012
Way, way over the top. I've read most of Ayn Rand's book and really enjoyed them for what they are. This film is a pale comparison to the novels. I've seen the first two parts and will watch the third (if it is made) with interest, but don't hold much hope that they will do the books justice.
As for whether the material is relevant to what is happening in today's society.....well, no. These films, as with Rand's works, are ridiculously black and white. Not everything our government does is bad and not every corporation that makes a tidy profit does so in an ethical manner.
The real world is gray. My guess is the far right will think of it as an allegory for today's society...the left won't bother to see it. Anyone in the midde, will probably giggle.
