Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Paul M — 18 Oct 2012
There's obviously a disconnect between the "Professional" critics and the Audience. Ayn Rand's book has been a best seller since the 1950's. Considering the time when it was written and the current social and economic situation she remains remarkably prophetic in her view of the consequences of "statisim" gone crazy.
I never expected a big Hollywood production interpretation of her book. The intrinsic problems of translating her book into a movie have been obvious since its publication. I enjoyed the movie, quite a lot.
I give the producers and actors a lot of credit for a product that incorporates many of Rand's principles into a contemporary setting. No one else was even willing to try in the last 50 years. If you read the book you'll enjoy the movie.
If you didn't you'll probably be lost in the same fog as the critics who prefer Karl Marx to Groucho Marx.
