Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Jeramie K — 17 Apr 2013
Like the first film before it, Atlas Shrugged Part II brings the hard hitting reality of Ayn Rand's world to life.
The script, while unbalanced, isn't as poor as many would make it out to be. It's effective enough, but goes too far out of it's way to dumb down what are otherwise smart and thought provoking concepts.
The big downfall and drop off from Part I to Part II is the cast. Make no mistake, neither cast is full of big names or a who's who list of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, in Part I, the performances were much more convincing, balanced, and powerful. And while the message is still prevalent throughout, I drastically missed the likes of Grant Bowler and Taylor Schilling.
Count me as one of the few, but the experience was still overly enjoyable, worth the time, and just like the first -- the ending left you wanting more.
