Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part II (2012) by Thomas B — 12 Oct 2012
This is a first-rate retelling of Ayn Rand's classic masterpiece. The production values and acting are much better than the first movie in the series and, thankfully, the dialogue has been updated to avoid the stilted nature of Rand's writing.
For those married to the left or right of the political spectrum the film will be heinous or glorious, respectfully. For an independent viewer willing to attend to the message and consider the implications, it will be serious food for thought.
One result is likely to be a yearning for something better than the unworthy candidates the major political parties are offering us. Another is a desire for more rationality and purpose, more honesty and justice, than we currently observe in the world - and, hopefully, a determination to move toward those ends.
