Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Brandon K — 23 Apr 2011
I saw this movie, and loved it. I was initially hesitant about seeing it after the 6% review from critics, but after seeing all I can think is that the critics either did not get the purpose of the movie, hated it for being low budget when all they wanted was better acting and large special effects (which there already was) or just were against the very philosophy being shown. I would say that you should read the book first, though, or have a quick mind when watching, as a lot of things happen really quickly.
This is one of those movies, that in many ways is a "thinking movie." I saw it with a friend, and upon going home we immediately got into a discussion about the themes in the movie that lasted two hours. If you can look past the sometimes weak acting and lack of a real climatic or blockbuster moment, you will find a great movie, directed superbly, and one that will inspire you to think.
I know I am seeing part 2.
