Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Kevin K — 02 May 2011
Atlas Shrugged was well filmed, well acted, and a generally good movie.
For those who have read the best selling book, the movie stays pretty close to the plot of the book excepting that it takes place in the future.
Those who have scored this movie so poorly are what Ayn Rand (the author of the book) might call "looters." The theme of the book and movie pits "producers" who are business owners and employers against "looters" who are politicians and organizers who are trying to "spread the wealth" - to quote president Obama.
We live in the world of "Atlas Shrugged." This country has not yet become the wasteland presented in the movie and book, but because of the "looters" and those who vote for them, we're on our way.
When you watch the movie, look behind the characters at the America presented, an America in decay.
The movie "Atlas Shrugged" comes at such an apropos time in our history when, as the Dollar sinks to nothingness, our credit rating as a nation is going down, our debt is in the $14 trillion dollar range, we as a nation, through our legislators, fight to tax "the rich," make laws inimical to business, and build huge unfunded welfare programs.
Soon, in real life, it'll be time for Atlas to Shrug!
Where's John Galt when you need him?
