Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Richard J — 11 Apr 2013
Who is John Galt? (if you have no clue as to what I'm talking about you need to read the book by Ayn Rand--otherwise you'll ask all sorts of stupid questions like "why a railroad in 2016?" "why should the '1%' effect the future of america" and etc. etc.
Now that you've read the book, I think you'll agree with me that the producers of this movie have done a great job of adapting Ayn Rand's masterpiece to the 21st century screen without losing too much of the character of the novel. What everybody (including the Mouchers who are too lazy to read the book) needs to understand is that this is part 1 of 3. The 2nd is already available and the 3rd should come out soon. All in all I'd say this would have been better served as a mini-series but, considering the Left's hold on all broadcast media, I can see why they resorted to this.
One final thing, don't look for answers from this trilogy. I had thought that perhaps resulting from the debut of this movie on the date that it did that perhaps people would finally be invigorated with the spirit of Ayn Rand (who wrote in the 1950s) to see that the economic problems plaguing them were nothing more than their own desires to see "somebody" do "something" to help them. However, by the re-election of our current President, and especially by the now evident "economic recovery", unfortunately I'm convinced we'll continue our downward spiral as a civilization and I, for one, have lost all hope in all but myself, my world, and my God. Perhaps that is the spirit of this trilogy.
PS: this is a global phenomena and I believe individuals throughout the world will see parallels to their own governments from the lessons of Ayn Rand.
