Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Alex F — 27 Apr 2011
Saw it and loved it (although, as with most book to movie adaptations, it fell short in some minor areas). This movie is SO very topical for today's American political atmosphere - and it's a scary thing to think about.
It's not the slickest production, for sure... but the message it conveys to the viewer IS QUITE CLEAR. For 10 million $ (especially in this day & age of the 'standard/minimum' $40-$60 million Hollywood film budget), I applaud the entire working cast, crew, marketing, etc. etc. for producing a quite nice piece of work. Ayn Rand would be proud.
PS - Don't let the 'official critics' score throw you off. You must live under a rock if you didn't know the voting/critiquing patterns of 'Official' (ahem) Movie Critics. In regards to 'left leaning 'media bias', if the current, glaring difference in ratings (critics 9%, audience 85%) doesn't convince you of its existence... well, you know who you are (and continue to look the other way, it's really working well for you).
Does anyone else find it funny that liberals are supposed to be the ones who are 'universally tolerant', yet they hardly ever tolerate any outside idea unless it remotely resembles their own. Wow - talk about irony to the nth degree.
