Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Derek H — 29 Nov 2011
Rand's novel, uncomfortably relevant these days, requires careful distillation to extract a screenplay that both preserves the essence of her ideas and updates her narrative for contemporary audiences.
It is unsurprising that this sophomore effort fails that Herculean task. It doesn't help that most of the people that are really talented at this sort of thing are ideolgically opposed to the central theme and message of Rand's work.
Two stars for noble intentions, but quite honestly the thing is barely watchable.
