Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by John B — 05 Feb 2012
The movie fell very much in line with the book, obviously some things had to be cut other wise there would have to be more Atlas Shrugged movies than the Resident Evil series. The casting was almost perfect to book descriptions, with the exception of D'anconia who perhaps could have been cast better.
The movie was noticeably done within budget but overall was very good and true to Ayn Rand's philosophy. I can see where it may have been a bit challenging in some parts for people unfamiliar with the book, like Wesley Mouch and his ascension to his government position and the role of the State Science Institute. Also, there a couple of awkward silent moments.
It is a great book and the movie was decent, and the best part I would say is its time setting into the near future, it creates a sense of urgency.
I am anxious for part 2.
:D.
