Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Joe S — 16 Mar 2012
Despite the predictable negative reviews from those whom can only be described as the recipient class in the movie (liberals). Atlas Shrugged is an inspirational movie, if you're an American who believes in small government, freedom and the power of the individual.
I've seen some reviews who regard this movie as the "rich" going on strike. When in fact, it's not about the rich, but those who wish to say, "you don't own me, what I produce and those who do not contribute certainly are not entitled to what it is I produce, simply because they are in need".
John Galt's character abandoned his engine, once it was made clear that those who would benefit from it, were willing to take it from him. This is no different than if you came up with the cure for cancer, but were told you could not profit from your formula, for the greater good.
Well then, what's your incentive to research and develop it in the first place? Exactly. This is a movie which empowers the individual, not this collective, Marxist society liberals and progressives desire, because in the end, just like in the movie.
It breeds mediocrity. I can't wait for the second part. Here's to the American person, not people.
