Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Michael J — 09 Oct 2012
A good (not great) movie and a decent adaptation of the book, so far. We'll see how Parts II & III fare. The acting is decent, especially Grant Bowler as Hank Rearden, Jsu Garcia as Francisco D'anconia, Michael Lerner (excellent) as Wesley Mouch, and Graham Beckel as Ellis Wyatt.
Production values are on par with high end TV movies. Production seemed to be strategically endowed in the climax scenes, such as the first running of the high speed train on Rearden Steel rails. The message of the movie is extremely timely, given the current election choice of progressivism vs.
capitalism. As such, most of the harsh reviews of the movie seem to be politically motivated.
