Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Tessa G — 10 Oct 2012
To simply put this movie is inspiring. I am going to drive 45 minutes tomorrow just to see the second adaptation for this truly amazing film. I admire the hell out of a director like Paul Johansson, he put message before profit.
The problem with capitalism, and society in general, not to mention the main reason why people dislike this movie is because it has a high potential to become reality. Why else would we have all the problems that we do if not for our procrastination? We have wasted our natural resources, destroyed our earth, and that's not even mentioning the 16 trillion dollar debt that we've landed ourselves with.
All of these are problems that could have, and still can be avoided; all it would take is a plan and some effort to turn things around. Instead of turning towards hope for the future our government has turned their backs to the populous because they have decided that since most of the people who have the power to fight for change would not live to see it anyways, why should they bother? The fact of the matter is that if the politician that held their seat prior had not said that same thing, we would not have this problem now.
Unfortunately mankind it seems is doomed to make the same mistakes on endless repeat. Capitalism will fail, this country will fall, and we only have ourselves to blame.
