Review of Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011) by Chris C — 15 Oct 2012
Amazing how so many movie goers have so many great things to say about this movie and have rated it so highly on so many movie review sites, and yet so many so-called "professional" critics have had so many bad things to say and have rated it so low.
Ironically, the more complaints and low ratings the "professionals" give, while movie goers on those exact same websites are rating it so highly, the more it looks like a concerted, almost organized effort, to downplay the societal importance of Ayn Rand's message at such a critical time in the evolution of the United States.
Take Roger Ebert for example, who gave this movie 1 star out of 4. If you look up the ratings for Bowling for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11, Capitalism: A Love Story and Sicko, all liberal slanted Michael Moore not-really-documentaries, Mr. Ebert graciously gives them all 3 or 3.5 stars out of 4.
Sure critics can complain about your typical movie standards, like the not-so-great acting, and a bit of the clunky storyline, but Moore's movies have no actors and are just a series of slick editing cuts that lay out a message that Moore wants to send, and there is nothing wrong with that. But Moore's films are not really movies and it would seem with Ebert giving 3+ stars for them, not really being held to movie standards.
So comparing apples to apples, i.e. Moore's societal message film vs. Rand's societal message film, I guess what Ebert is really trying to say is that he gives the socialism message 3+ stars and the capitalism message 1 star.
