Review of Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) by Carol H — 24 Jul 2012
This movie was made during Disney's early millennium dark age, when the studio had gotten tired of doing fairy tale musicals and were trying different things. As such, "Atlantis" is one of the company's more cynical animated movies.
There are far and few moments of wonder or joy. Only a couple of the characters are truly 'good'; the rest are two-faced. For that reason, I find the villains in "Atlantis" to be the worst bad guys ever to come out of the Mouse House (yeah, you hear me).
Tweens and teens might like it, but there's not much in it for the rest of us to enjoy.
